Yes, today is that day. 420...
First off, let me tell you that I had no idea what that meant until earlier this week when people mentioned it in my Government class. People weren't being specific about what it meant but I used those context clues that they taught back in elementary school and figured it had something to do with drugs.
After a few days, I kind of forgot about it actually. Then today comes and I come to school and realize that there's barely anyone in the hallways. (It was also Senior Skip Day which I didn't know about either and didn't figure out until 5th period because all the seniors in my Pre-Calculus class came to school because there was a test) I didn't make the connection with the empty hallways, missing ghetto people in Spanish class, and 420 until 5th period either when I noticed that the lunch lines weren't so crowded and the cafeteria seemed sparse.
I thought it was crazy how many people were not at school because of Senior Skip Day and perhaps this 420 thing. Seriously, most of the ghetto people were not at school today.
Also, my bus driver is happening to be a little chiz head and hasn't been coming for the past week. So I've been having to wait longer for the bus. Today, we waited extra long because another school bus was supposed to drop their own kids off and then come back for us. So while I waited in loneliness, I was kinda glancing at these group of people I always see sitting on this stairs outside of school. I always thought the people looked so cool and I wanted to know them so bad. But I'm just a loser, you know.
I see the group of people begin to walk across the street and into the woods and I'm jokingly thinking, "How suspicious? Are they about to do some drugs?" The woods were right behind some houses so I kinda figured that they were all gonna go to someone's house or something. Then one of the kids that were part of the group but didn't join the little trip walked past and started talking to these people sitting next to me. Of course, I listened in on the conversation a little.
I heard the guy saying, "They're all mostly freshmen and they're all so stupid. How are they gonna all get high in the middle of the woods right near some houses when there's all these police and stuff around? The people in the houses are gonna see a whole big bunch of people and see a trail of smoke and they're gonna get caught."
The thing about the police was true. As I was looking for bus earlier, I saw a police car in front of the buses. And I heard the conversation between the policeman and this Spanish kid and he was like, "Did you forget what today was? You were supposed to be in court!" It's not like I was even eavesdropping. The police guy was pretty loud as chiz. And I kinda laugh because I couldn't believe this was the kind of county I lived in where policeman just casually tell students that they're supposed to be in court.
But anyways, I was kind of surprised about what I heard about those cool kids all doing drugs out there. The fact that a lot of them were just stupid freshmen turned me off too. I know one of the girls who were in the group. In fact, I've known her since middle school and she's always been really cool. I'm not close to her but I actually like her.
I think it's so weird how people just have these separate things going on outside of what you just see of them at school.
