I haven't written a post since last week. But not much has been going on except that I've still been interning at the law firm. I've been there three times so far and it's pretty nice.
But yesterday, I asked myself, "Why the heck am I doing this?" I'm working for these people I don't even know for free. And it's not like I want to be a lawyer any time soon. So what am I getting out of this?
I mean, it's something to do. If I wasn't going to work every Tuesday and Thursday, I probably would've been home lazying around on the computer, eating everything. So that's one reason I like going there.
I also like the environment. Downtown DC is really nice and the office is so sophisticated. And the people are very friendly too. Oh and free drinks.
And don't forget the white guys. Oh yes. The white guys. ;)
But that's it. I feel like I'm being ripped off somehow.
Let's just forget about that part though. There's a summer associate that works at a desk at the right of me and I don't even know how I'm gonna explain myself. I vaguely mentioned him, saying he's probably in his early 20s. He is very very nice. And he's a bit off-beat somehow but I don't know why. But I like him though.
Then there was this other guy who was also giving me work to do. He kind of reminded me an older version of that Aaron dude from Mean Girls.
Attractive. ;D
Enough of that.
Yesterday was Independence Day and what a day that was. There were two picnics we were supposed to go to but we ended up going to neither. And I was really craving a grilled hamburger yesterday too. Instead, we went to the park in the blazing heat and played Tennis.
You probably heard about the crazy thunderstorms on the East Coast and the heat wave. If you haven't, you are totally uncool. The crazy thunderstorm happen on Friday, last week. It's about to be Friday in 6 minutes. My parents went to some party, I can't remember which one it was. And it was us and my grandma. Our power went out for a minute and then came back on. We had a lighter and candles prepared but our power didn't go out again after that. We were extremely lucky. A few blocks down the power was out and some trees fell down in my neighborhood. But that's all.
Some people still don't have power 'til this day. You have no idea how much that sucks. You probably do. I don't know. But I remember when our power was out for a couple of days and it SUCKED.
But yeah, it's been pretty hot. I remember back in the winter, when my friends and I were complaining about the lack of snow days. We had NO snow days because it was unusually warm all winter. And I remember someone saying, if it's this warm now, it's gonna be freakin' HOT in the summer.
They were so right.
My writing right now is so bad. I apologize.
I was talking about Fourth of July, wasn't I? Yeah, that's my favorite holiday you know. I don't know if I have mentioned it. I probably have. But it's my favorite holiday because I like cook outs and fireworks and I don't feel like I owe anyone anything. You know how on Christmas and Mother's Day and Father's Day, we have to give gifts. And on Halloween, you have to worry about candy. And don't get me started on Valentine's Day. *fake vomiting*
But Fourth of July is just chill. No worries. Just music.
Does anyone else freakin' LOATHE the political ads that keep popping up on YouTube? I dislike them so much. The Romney ones AND the Obama ones. I'm just a 15-year-old trying to watch a Nigahiga video. Honestly, I do not care about our political future at the moment.
So if you read the heading, it says I met an attorney today. Well, it's totally true. Be jealous.
The law firm is one of those family businesses so I noticed that on the directory that there were a whole bunch of people with the same last names. The guy that's teaching me the ropes said that he thought it was just some coincidence at first. Yeah, he's a sweet guy but he's not the brightest crayon in the crayon box, if you know what I mean. And today, I met one of the attorneys that I'm always indexing boxes for. This whole time, I was wondering how they looked like. From some research I did, I knew they had to be in their late 60s or early 70s. And yeah, the dude looks pretty old. But strong and active and sharp. Just like how you would think a lawyer would look like. I wonder how the other family members look like. I probably have seen them plenty of times but just haven't formally met them or anything.
It's a sweet job, you guys. It's not bad. If I was getting paid, I would be floating.
