Anyway, I've heard of the band for awhile now. They were always associated with the whole indie music genre and thought-they-were-hipsters-of-Tumblr. But I never really got the chance to explore their music. Or maybe I had and kinda wrote them off as boring because to be honest, a lot of indie music is boring.
Anyway, I discovered their new single (well, I think it's new), "Do I Wanna Know" and then I discovered the album, "AM". And I've gotten hooked to almost the entire album. It's sexy. To me, the album sounds like an indie-fied Black Sabbath. Maybe Black Sabbath is a bit extreme. Meh. But they're one of those bands in which every member is a true musician because the guitars and the drums are simply superb.
Before I discovered that I actually liked their music, my Tumblr had been spammed with pictures of Alex Turner. Apparently, one of the girls that I followed became an Arctic Monkeys fan... or an Alex Turner fan (because all she posts are pictures of Alex Turner) somewhere between the time I followed her and now. So I felt like God was giving me a sign.
I kind of have an issue being a fan of Arctic Monkeys because I don't wanna be known as one of those girls that only listen to a band because the lead singer is hot. I'll admit that I think he's attractive but his looks don't do it for me.

| Okay, yeah. He's real cute. |
And really, I didn't even get interested in the band until I heard "Do I Wanna Know" so I think I'm justified in saying that I truly do like them for their music.
But I appreciate the other members of the band also, especially the drummer, who sings back-up in the live videos I've watched but I never researched if he sings back-up in the studio-recorded songs.
This wasn't supposed to be a New Obsession post but I think I'll make it be one. I haven't done one in awhile because I haven't really gotten really obsessed with anyone in awhile. Except for Silversun Pickups. Did I do a post for them? I don't know. I really should have.
Okay, moving on.
I got accepted into Temple University yesterday. It was very anti-climatic. I found out while I was at my internship yesterday. I was already feeling kinda miserable because we had a two-hour delay because it was friggin' 7 degrees outside. I only went to school for two class periods. I had to get a ride with my mom in order to get to my internship. And then, the room to the lab was locked and no one else in my lab was there so I had to go get it opened by some random lady. And I already settled to myself that I was going to leave early.
So yeah, that's why I was miserable. And then I happened to check my e-mail and I found out I got into Temple. It's funny. I actually wanted to go to this school but it seems like once I get into the school I applied to, I begin to find out all the cons about the school and then my like for the school deteriorates.
For Temple, I found out that it was located in a sketchy part of Philly and also, that it was a big party school. It being a party school isn't a problem. But I don't really see myself being a party girl and I hope hearing about all these exciting parties that I didn't go to doesn't make me depress if I happened to go there. Also, the school isn't really that prestigious and I'm thinking I should've applied to Penn State or UPitt. To be honest, the main reasons why I applied to Temple were the merit scholarships and the new freshman building looking beautiful.
If I get to go that school for free, I'll overlook everything. But that's only if I get to go to the school free.
Some other good news is that I scheduled my first participant today! I called about four other families before reaching the girl and as fate would have it, the little girl had the same name as me! The girl's mom was super energetic and nice and she said her girl liked coming to the University of Maryland so I'm glad she'll be my first participant.
Everything is so final and surreal now.
I still haven't gotten out of Winter Break mode. I've had two mid-terms and I barely studied for either. I tried to do homework today but failed miserably when it came to Statistics. Luckily, he doesn't check homework really closely. But then again, he gave SO much. I think I have a good excuse for not completing it.
I also have some scholarships to do...
And the FAFSA... And my CSS... And my Chapter 3... And my Science Fair Board... And summer internship applications...
Gah!
