My Thoughts On... The George Washington University.

So I finally went there today. Oh, how stressful it was to set this date up!

I finally found a friend who would go with me yesterday after my initial friend bailed out. I texted a whole bunch of people, asking if they could go and NONE of them could. I found that outstanding. :I

Well, of course, it would be one of the hottest days of the summer. There was even a warning that asthmatics shouldn't even be outside because of the air quality. But thank God, my asthma didn't even act up.

My dad picked my friend up and took us GWU where we found ourselves to the Information Session area.

I won't go into much details here because I don't really feel like it. My head is throbbing.

My first impression when my dad pulled up to the area was 'Yuck'. I mean, the area is not ugly AT ALL. But I couldn't imagine going to college here. I think I just had this University of Maryland image stuck in my mind and it was wrong of me to even think of bringing it to GWU which was located in Washington D.C.

So obviously, there were no green open areas and fountains and benches as I had expected. Actually, it looked more like any part of D.C. Narrow-ish roads, lots of people walking or on bikes, traffic lights on the sides of the roads... I adore D.C. At least this part of this. But seriously, the "school buildings" looked like office buildings.

But I actually warmed up to it during the tour. I liked the feel of D.C. How everyone walks everywhere, the guys in suits, the girls wearing gym shoes with their skirts, the cars, the streets. The school buildings were nice too.

It's just that... I think I like the idea of going to school close to the city rather than in the city. My other qualms were the fact that it seemed like the school had more focus on majors dealing with politics than anything else. Which makes so much sense when you're in a school based in D.C. Also, the school doesn't have a football team so there's no mega football stadium. I mean, I've never been one to care about sports but I'm all for football spirit. So yeah... I don't know how I feel about it.

Oh, and their Wi-Fi SUCKS.

What I do really like is the extensive opportunities there. Apparently, a little over 90% of the students have internships while they attend GWU and this means so much to me because I mean, the point of going to school is so that you can get a good job afterwards. And I've been hearing a lot about how much harder it is for graduates to even get jobs these days and that scares me. If I do really well at an internship, I could automatically get a job there or something.

I didn't mention that they do have two campuses: Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon. My friend and I were giggling like empty-headed adolescents at the name, Foggy Bottom. It was the name of the campus that I had just described to you. Very urban, plain and simple. Whereas, Mount Vernon was more like one of those grassy open area colleges. You have to take a shuttle to get there though. However, I thought it was very cute and the tennis courts were gorgeous. I don't think I fell in love with it though but if I happened to go to GWU, I would totally like to live there.

So remember how I had issues with the group I was placed in when I went to UMD? Well, I didn't get lucky this time. Of course, all the cute boys ended up with different tour guides. But I didn't mind as much as I did when I went to UMD.

My friend and I ended up going back home on the metro. It was an adventure all right... I was gonna use my Navigation app to help us get to the station but of course, my GPS signal was non-existant because of the school's crappy connections. At first, we were heading in the wrong direction actually and we had to ask directions to get us on the right track. I was also a bit confused about changing color lines and my friend was freaking out. I hate when my friends freak out on me. I'm never afraid when I get a little "lost". I just chill out, think a little critically, and I know I'll get myself back on track. I know what I'm doing even if I don't right then. Plus, we were on the METRO TRAIN. If we rode the wrong train to the wrong station, it was just a quick switch back the correct way. Free of cost.

I guess my friends are just afraid of a little adventure. Smh.

I bought myself a wrap and smoothie from Burger King and went home. That was the end of my day.

So next week, I'm going to Georgetown. Hopefully, I'll be able to round up a few more friends. I'll be going into D.C. again (my favorite place). And I'm hoping it'll be fun.

I'm gonna make these campus visits a series. :D
