Okay maybe not ever.
But ever in my pre-senior year summer.
I GOT THE INTERNSHIP!!!!!1!!!1!!1!1!!!!!!
HALLELUJAH! PRAISE THE LORD!
I found out this morning when I was lying on my bed, reading my e-mail. And the message was like,
"Jessica,
Thank you for meeting with us on Monday. We would like to invite you to join the lab this year for your ERHS internship!
Each semester I write up a description of the studies we will be running, so that everyone in the lab knows what we are working on. I haven't written it for the fall yet, but I've attached the descriptions from this summer, most of which will be carried over. I'd recommend that you read through them, and decide if the types of studies we work on in the lab would be of interest to you or not. That will allow you to better decide if we are a good match for your interests."
I had Everything Is Everything by Phoenix playing in my ears and I was dancing (more like convulsing) on my bed from sheer happiness.
I have no idea why they want me. Did they find my cringe-worthy awkwardness rather quirky and charming? Was it my Computer Graphics skills or my experience in "research"? Ha. I really don't know.
But getting accepted into this internship felt like an EFF YOU to all the elite Science and Tech kids, to all the internships that declined me, to everyone and everything that made feel inadequate.
I get to leave school early. Take a bus to the campus. Eat a sandwich for lunch if I wanted to and a frozen yogurt. Then come to the lab for my studies. It's actually nerve-wracking just thinking about it. I hope I do spectacular.
I haven't responded to the e-mail yet because I have to figure out what studies I'd want to do exactly, meaning I have to read that attachment she gave me. But my head is not calm enough to go through such things right now. I'll e-mail her back tonight.
I was planning on going to the library today but it closes at 6 pm and I haven't even taken a shower. It'll be like 5 pm by the time I get there.
*Sigh* I'm just really happy about this.
